Firewise is a national program that empowers residents to work together to reduce their wildfire risk. Once a community meets the requirements for a Firewise community it must continue to make annual progress in reducing its risk of fire. Some insurance companies (USAA and Mercury Insurance, for example) offer substantial discounts for Firewise Communities. Due to the efforts of our all volunteer Fire Safe Council Alpine Meadows achieved Firewise status in 2019 and is in the second year of a 3 year approval.
